Frequently Asked Questions

How long is my program?

All Tiatros programs are comprised of eight weekly sessions.

How do I complete sessions?

Every Monday morning you will receive a notification that the week’s session has opened. You’ll have all week to sign into Tiatros and watch the session videos, complete the exercises, and comment on the work of your peers. We’ll send gentle reminders throughout the week encouraging you to finish up your work by Sunday night, because come Monday morning, the next session will open and this routine will begin again anew.

Do I have to go to scheduled meetings to complete my program?

Not at all. All of the requirements for Tiatros programs are completed online, and when, where, and how you complete your work is up to you and your personal schedule. However, you DO have to wrap up the session’s materials by the end of the week so the peer group can make progress as a team.

How long do sessions take?

The average participant can expect to spend about 90 total minutes watching videos, filling out exercises, and supporting their peers each week. This is exactly what you would expect from traditional in-person meetings, but our system allows you to break up the workload and participate however you like.

When will my program start?

Selecting a start date for your program is part of the Tiatros sign-up process. Programs always begin on Monday mornings and we’ll give you several options to choose from in the near future, so you don’t have to expect to wait very long.

What happens if I get too busy to participate?

Our programs are designed to work with any schedule and can be completed anywhere there’s access to the internet, but it’s still a good idea to make sure you don’t have any major travel plans or overwhelming demands on your time before requesting a start date. However, if something unexpected comes up while you’re in the middle of a program, there’s nothing to worry about. Doing whatever work you can, and even missing a week or two of work, is totally okay. Just let your group facilitator know and we’ll make sure you get the best possible experience with the time you have.

Is this psychotherapy?

Every Tiatros program is designed by behavioral health experts using evidence-based psychotherapeutic practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and more. Our programs will give you the best available knowledge, skills, and tools for improving your mental and physical well-being, but they are not meant to be used as interventions for psychological disorders.

What should I do if I need immediate help or feel overwhelmed?

Tiatros programs were not designed to be used as an intervention for psychological disorders, and our employees are not substitutes for clinical care. If you think you might be in crisis or need immediate care, you should call your doctor or call 911.

Is my Tiatros Group Facilitator a therapist?

Tiatros programs are not psychotherapy and our Group Facilitators are not psychotherapists. While our programs are designed and supervised by mental health experts, the role of your Group Facilitator is to promote meaningful participation and engagement amongst the peer group’s members.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Cognition describes all the things our minds can do; our thoughts, our memories, and our decision making. CBT is simply a form of therapy that challenges you to improve your cognitive perspective so that you may improve the way you think, feel, and live. CBT has been the gold standard of psychotherapeutic care for most mental illnesses for decades, and more recently, has been successfully applied to the development of psychological resilience.

Will my identity and information be private?

Absolutely. Your identity and experience as a Tiatros participant will remain within the confines of our HIPAA-compliant environment. Your peer group will be organized on a first name-basis, and every member of the team must pledge to uphold the privacy and dignity of the peer group as part of their enrollment process. The Tiatros platform maintains the strictest privacy and data security protocols, and our employees are trained and expected to uphold the highest legal, professional, and ethical standards. We will never make any personally identifiable information available to any outside party at anytime, including the employers of those members participating through corporate health programs.

Who are the other people in my Peer Group?

Each Tiatros peer group is comprised of 12-16 individuals with needs and goals similar to your own. We assemble each group to best facilitate cooperation and sharing amongst its members, so you can expect to be working with helpful, interesting, and motivated peers. In some cases, such as our Post-Traumatic Growth for Veterans offering, you can also expect your teammates to share specific life experiences.

Why do we work in groups?

Our relationships are a vital component in how we think, feel, learn, and grow. The overwhelming scientific consensus is that working with other people creates the best possible environment for psychological and physical health and growth.
